From the Bendigo Advertiser U-turn death cop to stand trial
14 Oct, 2010 09:02 PM
The court heard she was performing a U-turn in fog when she hit the motorcyclist travelling south along Black Forest Drive.
The 31-year-old rider died at the scene.
John Beesley, a cleaner and maintenance worker who was the first at the scene, told the court he had driven along Black Forest Drive almost every day for the past 10 years.
He said the road was notorious for its fluctuating weather conditions and that on the morning of the accident it was the foggiest he had seen all year.. . .
. . . Carbonneau, a senior constable at Sunbury, was on her way to work when she realised she had forgotten a batch of cup cakes at home and decided to turn around to get them
Carbonneau is facing four charges: dangerous driving causing death, dangerous driving, failing to give way doing a U-turn and failing to keep left of dividing lines.
Magistrate Peter Mealy committed the officer to stand trial, saying that a jury, if properly instructed, could conclude that it was hazardous to perform a U-turn is such poor conditions, and therefore support a conviction.

This story as I understand it is, the Copper was on her way to work, realised she had forgotten some cakes she had baked for smoko so stopped did a U turn in FOG over DOUBLE WHITE LINES, the motorcyclist hit her and died. Tragic for the rider\, but read the comments below ther has been enough of this story around to have an idea of what went on. Police can break the law and KILL civilans and get off with no conviction
